Google Cloud on Wednesday, December 13, unveiled Gemini Pro — a version of its multimodal AI solution aimed at organisations. In a blog post, Thomas Kurien, CEO of Google Cloud, announced the AI Hypercomputer, Generative AI support in Vertex AI, and Duet AI for Google Workspace, has fueled substantial growth in developer and user engagement.

Kurien said Google Cloud is launching "AI-optimized infrastructure with notable advances in GPUs, TPUs, ML software and compilers, workload management and others; many innovations in Vertex AI; and an entirely new suite of capabilities with Duet AI agents in Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform".

The most interesting of these is Gemini Pro — the professional version of Gemini, Google Cloud's "most capable and versatile model to date".

"It was built from the ground up to be multimodal, which means it can generalise and seamlessly understand, operate across, and combine different types of information, including text, code, audio, image, and video, in the same way humans see, hear, read, listen, and talk about many different types of information simultaneously," Kurien wrote in the blog post.

Gemini Pro

Vertex AI is Google Cloud's enterprise AI platform for developers. Gemini Pro, now available in preview on Vertex AI, empowers developers to build agents capable of processing information across text, code, images, and video, Kurien added.

Duet AI, Google Cloud's assistive AI agents for Workspace and Google Cloud, has been augmented with capabilities that enhance threat detection, investigation, and response, utilising the power of generative AI.

Google Cloud also said it is making Gemini more accessible with competitive pricing and expanding indemnification to address copyright concerns.
